Why Trudging Home

No parent should have to choose between recovery and family.

Families affected by substance use often face housing instability, separation, and limited recovery options designed for parents with children—especially fathers. Trudging Home will welcome both women and men with children and help families move toward lasting stability.

“We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it.”Inspired by the Ninth Step Promises

Our developing program

A bridge from surviving to thriving.

Designed around dignity, accountability, family connection, and practical support.

01

Safe family housing

A stable place where parents can focus on recovery without being separated from their children.

02

Recovery support

Peer connection, recovery planning, and links to treatment and community-based services.

03

Family stabilization

Parenting support, life skills, employment readiness, and help navigating family reunification.

For mothers

Heal without leaving motherhood behind.

Family-centered support that sees the woman, the parent, and the future she is building.

For fathers

A recovery path that makes space for dad.

Closing a critical housing gap for fathers working to recover, parent, and reunify.

Help build the first home

Every family deserves a place to begin again.

Trudging Home is in its development stage. We welcome conversations with community partners, housing supporters, volunteers, and people who believe recovery should strengthen the whole family.
